2004-11-28 - 7:06 p.m. It is not like I haven't seen snow before, but it has been years since I have seen it here, and never before like this. I have no new way of depicting the heavy white blanket of snow weighing down the trees and shrubs, or the way it clings to the many branches; I have no way to show you what makes this snow rare and delightful to me. I should be in the kitchen baking up the cookie dough and making a soup out of the ingredients I bought on my way back home. If I were I would be missing the beauty and calm and comfort of a snow-covered land, a picture I thought I would miss this year. (After washing cars in the slush this afternoon, I am sure I would not miss a winter without snow.) It is just what I need after the adventures of the past five days, which, unfortunately, I feel have just begun.
